Side by side

How we picked

The pool holds 34 MSI desktops whose listings state a discrete graphics card, meaning an RTX, GTX, Radeon RX or Arc card named in the title, with near-duplicate listings folded into one machine. Every desktop is compared on the specifications stated in its listing and on its live price, which the page prints with the time it was read. The picks are ordered first by price range: desktops listed at two thousand to two thousand nine hundred ninety-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents come first, then the rest. Within each group, the picks are ordered by stated graphics memory (most first), then by stated RAM, then by stated storage, with ties broken by the order they appear in the pool. Desktops whose listing does not state a figure are placed after desktops that state one, and this guide narrows the pool to 13 picks.

How to choose

What the graphics card and its memory decide

The graphics card does most of the work of drawing a game, and the graphics memory it carries limits how large and detailed the scenes and textures it can hold. Listings that state a graphics memory figure give a direct number to compare, and this guide orders picks by that figure first. A pick that names a card without stating its memory cannot be compared on that key, so it is placed after picks that do.

RAM when the game, voice chat and a stream run together

RAM holds what is open at the same time: the game, the launcher, a browser, voice chat and a stream or capture program. Most picks in this guide state 32GB of RAM, which leaves room for several programs at once. The entry Aegis ZS states 16GB, a smaller figure for a more compact setup.

Storage for a game library

Storage is the room for installed games. Picks in this guide state 1TB or 2TB of storage, and a 2TB desktop holds more before a drive fills up. The largest stated figure among these picks is 2TB; no pick here states more.

Reading a prebuilt gaming PC listing

Each listing states a CPU, a GPU, RAM, storage and an operating system, and some listings add a graphics memory figure. When a listing omits a figure, this guide writes 'not stated by the seller' instead of guessing. The live price is printed on the page with the time it was read, so the comparison uses current figures.

The operating system stated on the desktop

Most picks state Windows 11 Home, a few state Windows 11 Pro, and one states Windows 11 without an edition. Windows 11 includes gaming features such as Auto HDR and optimizations for windowed games, as the Microsoft comparison page notes. The guide does not rank the editions; it reports what each listing states.

What this guide leaves out (and why)

The catalogue holds no data on thermals, noise, frame rates, ray tracing results, load times or the settings a game will run at, so this guide does not cover them. It also does not state upgrade paths, because the listings do not. The comparison is limited to the specifications stated in each listing and the live prices on the page.

Questions

Does this guide cover frame rates, fan noise or temperatures?

No. The catalogue holds only the specifications stated in each listing and the live price. It has no data on thermals, fan noise, frame rates, ray tracing results or the settings a game will run at, and this guide does not guess at them. The comparison is based on the stated specs and live prices printed on the page.

How are these MSI desktops ordered?

Desktops listed at two thousand to two thousand nine hundred ninety-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents come first, then the rest. Within each group, the order goes by stated graphics memory (most first), then stated RAM, then stated storage, with ties broken by the order they appear in the pool. Desktops that do not state a figure come after those that do.

What does 'not stated by the seller' mean?

It means the listing does not give that figure. A desktop's RAM, storage or graphics memory may be missing from the listing, and this guide writes 'not stated by the seller' rather than guessing. Check the listing title or the seller's page for a figure before buying.

Can these desktops be upgraded later?

The listings do not state upgrade paths, so this guide does not cover them. Whether a desktop accepts more RAM or another drive is a claim the catalogue cannot support, and this guide leaves it out. Confirm any upgrade plan with the seller before buying.

How are near-duplicate listings handled?

The pool contains multiple listings of the same machine, such as Aegis ZS2 and Aegis ZS desktops with the same GPU, RAM and storage. This guide folds near-duplicates into one pick to keep the list readable. When two picks share the same stated specs, the later one follows in pool order.

Is Windows 11 Home or Pro better for a gaming desktop?

The picks state Windows 11 Home, Windows 11 Pro, or just Windows 11. Windows 11 includes gaming features such as Auto HDR and optimizations for windowed games, as Microsoft's comparison page notes. Any of the stated editions meets the Windows 11 minimum requirements; the guide does not rank them.
